Landed a 47-location retail chain spread across 9 states, 6 different utilities. My spreadsheet approach is going to collapse under this. How are you all handling portfolio-scale audits? Software, workflow, subcontractors?
Auditing a 47-location retail chain — workflow?
For anything over 20 sites I use a master tracking sheet with one row per account + tabs per utility. Key is standardizing the intake: every account gets the same data pull (24 months, rate schedule, tariff doc, meter specs) before any analysis starts. Split analysis phase into utility-level buckets so one auditor owns all the Duke accounts, another owns all the ComEd, etc.
I'd also suggest building a reusable audit template per rate schedule. Once you've audited one Pepco MGT-LV account, the next 11 are 30% the effort. Don't start from scratch on every account.
Second the template approach. I have rate-class-specific Excel workbooks for the top 15 tariffs I see. New account in a known rate class takes me 90 minutes to audit instead of 6 hours.
