Working with an Entergy Arkansas customer who just got switched to Time of Use Schedule TOU-2. The rate differential between on-peak ($0.145/kWh) and off-peak ($0.068/kWh) is pretty significant. Customer is asking about shifting their production schedule to take advantage of the lower off-peak rates. Has anyone worked with clients on load shifting strategies? What's been most effective?

Entergy Arkansas Time of Use Schedule TOU-2
Lucille, load shifting can be very effective but you need good interval data to model the potential savings first. I've had success with clients shifting non-critical operations like HVAC pre-cooling, hot water heating, and some manufacturing processes to off-peak hours. The key is identifying which loads are flexible vs. critical to operations. Entergy's TOU-2 schedule has peak hours 1-7 PM weekdays if I recall correctly, so there's good opportunity for evening and weekend shifts.
