Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and could use some help. I'm auditing a manufacturing client's Georgia Power account and found what looks like an error in their demand billing. They're on Schedule PL-3 and being charged for 847 kW peak demand, but our interval data shows the actual peak was only 782 kW. The difference is costing them about $2,100 per month. Has anyone seen similar issues with Georgia Power's demand metering? What's the best approach for disputing this?
Peak Demand Billing Error at Georgia Power - Need Advice
Welcome to AAUBA! Georgia Power can be tricky with demand charges. Make sure you're looking at the right measurement period - they use 15-minute intervals. Also check if there's any power factor penalty affecting the billing demand calculation. I'd recommend requesting the actual meter data from GP before filing a dispute.
Welcome to the forum! Greg gives solid advice above. Georgia Power is generally cooperative with legitimate billing disputes. Document everything carefully and request their interval data to compare with yours. If there's truly a 65 kW discrepancy consistently, that's significant. Feel free to reach out if you need help interpreting their tariff language - Schedule PL-3 has some nuances. Keep us posted on how this resolves!
