Wanted to share a lesson learned from a recent DTE Energy audit. We pulled 18 months of billing history and found the power factor penalty error started in 2017. The meter nameplate shows 200:5 but the billing system has 300:5.

Had the exact same problem with TVA last year. Took about 48 months to resolve but got full refund.
Nice find. I''ve started using a Python script I wrote to cross-reference these calculations and it saves a ton of time.
Be careful with Alliant Energy''s refund process — they sometimes try to limit the lookback period to 3 years.
