Is direct mail dead for our industry or does anyone still use it successfully? I'm thinking about sending postcards to commercial property owners in my area with a simple message about free utility bill audits.
Direct mail — anyone still doing this?
I tried direct mail about 5 years ago. Sent 500 postcards to commercial property owners in suburban Philadelphia. Got exactly one response. One. That's a 0.2% response rate. For the cost of printing and mailing, I could have made 500 phone calls and gotten 50 conversations. I wouldn't bother with direct mail in this industry. The service is too specialized and the decision-maker too hard to reach via mail.
Agree with Phil. Our service requires a conversation to explain. A postcard can't do that. Spend the money on networking events or LinkedIn ads instead.
Fair enough. Scrapping the postcard idea. Going to put that budget toward LinkedIn.
