Wanted to share a lesson learned from a recent PPL Electric audit. The TOU peak window on the bill doesn''t match the current tariff definition. Client''s been paying $38,000 too much every month since 2012.

Caught Pacific Gas & Electric franchise fee error going back 5 years
Solid analysis. One thing I''d add is to verify the ratchet at 80% of peak against the original service application.
Great catch, Randy Dawson. I''ve seen Rocky Mountain Power do this before — it''s a systemic issue in their billing system.
This is exactly why I always pull 12+ months of history. The pattern wouldn''t show in a shorter window.
Had the exact same problem with Evergy last year. Took about 24 months to resolve but got full refund.
Good thread. I want to emphasize what Carl H said about rider calculations. This comes up frequently and the correct approach is to always verify against the published tariff, never assume the bill is right.
