Follow-up on my earlier post about voltage discounts. Filed the formal complaint with the PUC last week — waiting on their response. Sales tax is being charged even though the client has a valid exemption certificate on file.

Great catch, Marcus R. I''ve seen Pacific Gas & Electric do this before — it''s a systemic issue in their billing system.
I''d recommend requesting the meter test records from FirstEnergy. That''s what cracked my case open.
Had the exact same problem with Avista last year. Took about 48 months to resolve but got full refund.
Good work Randy Dawson. For the folks following along, this is a textbook example of why we check tax exemptions on every audit.
Welcome insights here. I''d add that Appalachian Power''s billing system has had known issues with demand charges since their platform migration. Document everything carefully.
