Hey everyone! I'm organizing an informal AAUBA meetup in Phoenix on March 15th at the Desert Ridge Marketplace food court, around 6 PM. We can discuss some of the crazy stuff APS has been pulling with their demand charges lately. I've got three cases where they're double-billing commercial accounts on Schedule E-32. Would love to compare notes with other Arizona auditors. Let me know if you can make it!
Phoenix AAUBA Meetup - March 15th at Desert Ridge
Patricia, I might be able to drive down from Fresno if I can wrap up this PG&E audit by then. Been fighting them on a $47,000 overcharge for TOU-8 secondary voltage billing. Similar issues with demand charge calculations. Count me as tentative but interested!
Wish I could join you guys! Dealing with similar demand charge nonsense here in San Antonio with CPS Energy. They've been misapplying the power factor penalty on Schedule POLF for months. Found $23,000 in overcharges on one account alone. Take good notes and share what you learn!
Great to hear from you both! Dan, definitely try to make it if you can. The PG&E vs APS comparison would be really valuable. Angela, I'll take detailed notes and post a summary here afterward. Maybe we can start a regular Southwest region meetup rotation.
This sounds excellent. I've been wanting to connect with more western auditors. OG&E has been implementing some weird billing practices here in Oklahoma that might be worth discussing. Can't make Phoenix but would love to hear the recap.
Update: I'll be there! Finished the PG&E case early - they actually admitted the error and cut a $47,200 refund check. Looking forward to comparing war stories with APS billing issues.
Fantastic turnout last night! Dan, Greg from Scottsdale, and two other local auditors showed up. We identified a pattern in APS Schedule E-32 where they're calculating demand charges incorrectly for accounts with power factor correction equipment. Going to file a formal complaint with the Arizona Corporation Commission. Thanks everyone who participated!
