Just wanted to share a win with you all. Manufacturing client here in Springfield had been getting hammered with data overage charges from Verizon. Bill was showing $1,200-1,500/month in overages for the past 8 months. Turns out they were on the wrong plan entirely - paying for individual 2GB lines when they should have been on shared 50GB pool. Recovered $8,500 in credits and cut their monthly bill by $900. Always check if shared data makes more sense!
Verizon Overcharging on Data Plans - $8500 Recovery!
Nice work Elmer! I see this constantly with Verizon and AT&T. Their sales reps put everyone on individual plans because it's easier to sell, then never suggest optimizing later. Did you have to fight for those credits or did they pay up easily?
Albert, they actually credited it all without much fuss once I showed them the usage patterns. I think they knew they screwed up. The key was having 12 months of detailed usage data showing actual consumption vs. plan allowances. Hard to argue with the math.
What tool did you use to analyze the usage patterns? I'm dealing with a similar situation here in Cincinnati with a 200-employee client. AT&T bills are a nightmare to parse through manually.
Cecilia, I built a simple Excel pivot table from their online usage reports. Download 12 months of data, pivot by line number and month, then look for patterns. You'll quickly see which lines consistently go over and which barely use any data. Perfect ammunition for plan optimization discussions.
This is why I love telecom auditing over regular utilities. The carriers make so many dumb mistakes and the clients usually have no idea what they're paying for. Easy pickings if you know what to look for. Great job Elmer!
