Working a large industrial account in Tyler and Oncor just started billing a 'transmission access charge' that wasn't there last month. $890 on the May bill with zero explanation. Called Oncor and they claim it's for 'transmission system access' but can't show me any tariff authorization. This looks like another unauthorized charge scheme. Anyone else in Texas seeing this from Oncor?
Oncor adding bogus 'transmission access charge'
Howard, haven't seen that specific charge from Oncor but it sounds familiar. NorthWestern Energy tried something similar in Montana - called it a 'grid access fee' until we proved they were already recovering transmission costs in their delivery charges. Challenge it immediately with the Texas PUC.
We're seeing similar unauthorized charges from Entergy Louisiana - they call it a 'system enhancement surcharge' but it's not in any filed tariff. These utilities are getting bold with made-up charges. File a complaint with PUCT and demand written documentation of the tariff authorization.
