NV Energy rolled out new time-of-use rates for large commercial customers in Reno and I'm seeing some strange billing patterns on a few accounts. One client's peak period charges don't seem to match their actual usage during the defined peak hours. Has anyone else worked with NV Energy's new TOU structure? The rate schedules look straightforward but the billing implementation seems off. Could be a system issue or I might be missing something in the tariff language.
Anyone dealt with NV Energy's new TOU rates? Seeing weird billing patterns
Cliff, I'm in Vegas and haven't seen the billing issues you're describing yet, but NV Energy did mention some system updates when they implemented the new TOU rates. Are you seeing the problems across multiple rate schedules or just specific ones? Sometimes the peak period definitions change slightly and clients don't realize their usage patterns put them in higher cost periods now.
Actually Cliff, now that I think about it, I did have one client question their October bill. The peak charges seemed high compared to September even though their operations were similar. Might be worth having both of us contact NV Energy's commercial billing department to see if there are known issues. If it's a systematic problem they'll want to address it quickly before more customers notice.
