Quick win to share with the group. Manufacturing client in Independence was being charged for transformer ownership and maintenance on equipment they don't actually own. Evergy's records showed the transformer was customer-owned, but the original interconnection agreement clearly stated it was utility-owned. Took six months of back and forth but finally got them to correct their asset records. Recovery was $94,847 including interest. Not huge money but felt good to catch their mistake.

Evergy screwed up transformer ownership - $95K recovery
Nice catch Lloyd! Transformer ownership disputes are tricky because the documentation is often scattered across multiple departments. I had a similar case with Ameren Missouri where they were charging transformer maintenance fees on equipment that was clearly marked as utility-owned in their own GIS system. Did you have to get legal involved or did they cooperate once you showed them the interconnection agreement?
John, they cooperated pretty quickly once I provided the original interconnection docs. I think their billing department just never cross-referenced with engineering records when they set up the account. The frustrating part was getting the right person at Evergy who could actually make the correction. Took calls to four different departments before finding someone with authority to fix their asset database.
