Mobile apps for field work - any recommendations?

I'm doing more on-site work lately and wondering if anyone has found good mobile apps for field documentation. Need something for taking photos of meters, recording readings, and maybe basic note-taking. Currently just using paper and transcribing everything later, which is inefficient.
Elmer, I've been using Evernote for field notes and photos. Works pretty well for documenting meter installations and taking pictures of rate schedules posted at facilities. The search function is helpful when you need to find specific photos later. Syncs across all my devices too.
I tried a few different apps but ended up with a simple voice recorder app plus the camera. Most of the fancy field apps are designed for other industries and don't really fit utility auditing work. Keep it simple and focus on getting good photos of the important stuff.
Warren's right about keeping it simple. The main thing is having everything backed up to the cloud automatically. I've lost field notes before when my phone died, and it's a nightmare trying to recreate that documentation weeks later when you're writing the audit report.
