Strange issue with WE Energies here in Milwaukee. Customer on Schedule Cg-5 TOU rate and their interval data reports are showing zero usage for all weekend periods from June through August. Obviously that's impossible for a 24/7 manufacturing facility. Meter is reading fine on weekdays with proper 15-minute intervals. Anyone seen this kind of selective data loss? I'm wondering if their AMI system has a bug that's only affecting weekend uploads. Customer is missing out on weekend off-peak credits which amounts to about $8,000 per month.

Linda, I've seen similar issues with Xcel Energy up here in Minneapolis. Their older Itron meters sometimes have communication failures during low-traffic periods when the network isn't being polled as frequently. Weekends and holidays are prime times for this to happen. Check if the meter is actually storing the data locally but just not transmitting it. You might need to request a manual meter interrogation to pull the stored intervals directly from the device.
We had the exact same problem with WE Energies on a Cg-5 customer last year. Turns out their head-end system was configured to skip weekend data collection to reduce network traffic. Completely idiotic since TOU customers need that data for proper billing. It took escalation to their AMI operations manager to get it fixed. Make sure you request back-billing adjustments for all the missed off-peak credits. Our client got $31,000 back dating to when the problem started.
This sounds like a head-end system configuration error rather than a meter problem. PPL has had similar issues where their MDM system was set to only collect data during business hours to save bandwidth costs. The meters were recording everything properly but the utility wasn't bothering to download weekend data. I'd file a formal complaint with the Wisconsin PSC if WE Energies doesn't fix this promptly. Missing interval data for TOU customers is a clear violation of their service obligations.
