Looking at an Ameren Missouri LGS account in Springfield and their power factor penalty calculation doesn't match the published tariff. Tariff says penalties apply when monthly average PF falls below 0.90, but they're applying penalties at 0.89 average. The difference is about $340/month. Anyone familiar with recent changes to Ameren's LGS schedule? This is a 1.2 MW food processing plant.
Ameren Missouri Rate Schedule LGS - PF penalty calculation seems wrong
Elmer, I think Ameren changed their threshold from 0.90 to 0.85 about two years ago on LGS accounts. But they might be using 0.88 as the penalty trigger point now. OPPD here in Omaha did something similar. You should request a copy of their current effective tariff sheet to verify. The Missouri PSC website should have the latest version filed.
Thanks Ken, I'll check the PSC website. The account rep claims they're using the correct tariff but the math still doesn't add up. Even at 0.89 average PF, their penalty rate of $1.45/kVAR seems high compared to the published $0.95/kVAR rate.
