Working on an audit for a retail chain here in Springfield and I'm seeing what looks like incorrect TOU application on their Ameren Missouri bills. Customer is on rate schedule LGS-TOU but the peak periods don't match what I'm seeing in the tariff book. Tariff shows summer peak as 1:00-8:00 PM weekdays, but bills seem to show peak charges during 12:00-7:00 PM. Has anyone dealt with Ameren Missouri TOU recently? Could use a sanity check before I challenge this.
Ameren Missouri TOU rate misapplication - need advice
Elmer, I haven't worked with Ameren Missouri specifically, but down here in Alabama we see utilities sometimes using Central Time vs. local time issues. Double-check if the tariff specifies time zone and whether they're accounting for daylight saving time correctly. Also verify you're looking at the current tariff version - utilities love to change TOU windows without much fanfare.
Albert raises good points about time zones and tariff versions. Also check if there were any recent amendments or riders that modified the base TOU schedule. Down here in Texas we've seen temporary peak period adjustments during extreme weather that sometimes get applied incorrectly after the emergency period ends. Get a copy of all active tariff sheets from Ameren's website and compare line by line.
