Got a lead on auditing several HCA hospitals in Tennessee and Florida. They're apparently consolidating their energy management but each facility still has separate billing. Anyone here worked with HCA before? Wondering about their procurement process and typical billing complexity.
HCA hospital chain - anyone worked with them?
Worked with HCA Nashville a few years back. They have very standardized processes but each hospital GM has some autonomy on vendor selection. Expect 6-12 month sales cycle and lots of documentation requirements. The billing complexity varies - some have central plant billing, others are straightforward. Worth pursuing though, they pay on time.
HCA has good corporate support for energy initiatives. I did an audit at their Ft. Lauderdale facility in 2013 - found $28K annually in demand charge errors on their main campus meter. They were very professional throughout the process. Just be prepared for their legal team to review everything twice.
Thanks for the insights! The legal review part is good to know. Did either of you run into any issues with HIPAA compliance or special requirements for healthcare facilities?
HIPAA wasn't an issue for utility billing work, but they did want background checks for anyone going on-site. Standard healthcare facility protocol.
