Anyone worked with correctional facilities before? State prison in Missouri has incredibly high demand charges - hitting 2.8MW peak every month. The facility runs 24/7 obviously but wondering if there are opportunities for demand management given the controlled environment.
Prison Facility Demand Management
Janice, prisons are tough because security systems can't be interrupted and you can't really shed loads like you can in other facilities. Best bet is usually HVAC scheduling in non-critical areas like administrative buildings.
Floyd's right about the security constraints. We did find success with laundry and kitchen load scheduling at a facility in Illinois. Saved about $4K monthly by running those operations during off-peak demand periods.
Thanks guys. Kitchen and laundry scheduling makes sense - they have some flexibility there. Will look into the timing of those loads versus their demand peaks.
