Mega-church client with 5,000-seat sanctuary plus school and community center. PG&E billing shows huge demand spikes December/January that don't match usage patterns. Building is heated but demand jumps from 800 kW to 1,400 kW. Something's not right here.

Large church campus - seasonal billing variations
Bernard - check holiday lighting and special events. Large churches often add massive temporary lighting displays, stage equipment, and heating for outdoor events during Christmas season. Could easily account for that demand spike.
Also look at supplemental heating systems. Many churches use portable heaters in fellowship halls, classrooms, and outdoor covered areas during winter events. That equipment can draw serious power if they're not careful about load management.
Found it! They were running eight 75 kW electric heaters for outdoor Christmas market plus stage lighting that pulled another 200 kW. Facilities team had no idea about demand charges. Working on load scheduling for next year.
