Working on a paper mill account in Tennessee that's been on TVA's MSB rate for years. They're claiming voltage discount at transmission level (161kV) but I'm seeing some inconsistencies in how it's calculated versus their published tariff. Anyone else dealt with TVA voltage discounts on large manufacturing accounts?
TVA Schedule MSB - Any experience with voltage discount adjustments?
Eugene - I've seen this before with TVA. They sometimes apply the discount to demand charges only, not energy. Double-check section 4.3 of their MSB tariff - the voltage discount should be 5% for transmission delivery. What's the discrepancy you're seeing?
Thanks Ed! They're only applying it to energy charges, not demand. That's backwards from what you're saying. The monthly savings difference is about $3,200. I'll pull the tariff language again but sounds like I might have found something here.
Eugene, we found the same issue at a chemical plant in Alabama on TVA. Took 8 months to get them to correct it but recovered $28,000 in overcharges. Document everything - they'll want proof of the voltage level and transformer ownership.
