Working on a paper mill in Macon and something doesn't add up. The nameplate on their CT says 400:1 but Georgia Power has been billing them at 200:1 for the past 18 months. That's a $12,000/month difference. Anyone else seen this kind of discrepancy?
Georgia Power CT Ratio Mystery - 400:1 vs 200:1
Eugene, I've seen this exact issue with Georgia Power industrial accounts. They sometimes don't update their billing system when CTs get upgraded. Did you check if there was recent electrical work done? The multiplier error can go back years if nobody catches it.
Greg's right - this is more common than you'd think. I found a similar error at a chemical plant in Columbus last year. Georgia Power credited back 14 months once I provided the CT nameplate photos and the electrical contractor's work order. Document everything!
Thanks guys! I'll get photos of the nameplate and track down the electrical contractor records. The facility manager mentioned they upgraded transformers about 2 years ago, so that timing fits. Will keep you posted on the outcome.
