Found something weird on an Ameren account for a chemical plant. They've been billing single-phase kWh on what's clearly a three-phase installation. The meter readings show all three phases are active but only one phase worth of consumption is being billed. This has been going on for about 14 months. Anyone seen this type of error before?

Marcus - that's unusual but not unheard of. Could be a programming error in their billing system where only one channel is being read. I'd get Ameren's meter tech out there ASAP to verify the meter configuration. If they've really been underbilling for 14 months, they're going to want to back-bill once they discover it.
That's exactly what I'm worried about. The client is obviously thrilled they've been getting cheap electricity, but a back-bill for 14 months of two-thirds of their actual usage could be devastating. Probably looking at $180K+ if Ameren catches it.
