Quick question - auto dealership with outdoor lighting and electronic message sign. Xcel Energy has them on standard commercial rate but I'm wondering if the outdoor lighting portion should be on a separate lighting tariff. Sign pulls about 8 kW continuous, lot lighting adds another 12 kW at night. Worth pursuing or just focus on the main building meter?
Lighting/signage tariff confusion
Really depends on how it's metered. If lighting and sign are on separate meters, definitely check lighting tariffs - usually much cheaper per kWh. But if it's all on one meter with the building load, you're stuck with commercial rates for everything.
