Working with a food bank that might qualify for nonprofit rates with Georgia Power. Their bills are about $2,400/month on Schedule GSD-1. Anyone know what documentation Georgia Power requires to prove nonprofit status? I have their 501(c)(3) certificate but wondering if there's other paperwork needed.
Nonprofit rate eligibility - documentation requirements
Meredith, Georgia Power usually wants the IRS determination letter, articles of incorporation, and sometimes proof that the facility is used primarily for the nonprofit purpose (not rented out commercially). The 501(c)(3) is the main thing but they like to see the full documentation package. Worth calling their commercial rates department to confirm exactly what they want.
Perfect, thanks Susan. I'll gather up those additional documents before submitting the rate change request. Better to have everything upfront than go back and forth with them.
