Looking at a 3-story office building in Denver on Xcel Energy. Currently on Schedule SG (small general service) at about $3,200/month. Building is mostly standard offices with lots of fluorescent lighting, some computer equipment. Would they benefit from switching to Schedule AL (area lighting) or is that just for outdoor lighting? The rate structure looks favorable but I'm not sure if it applies to office buildings.

Small office complex - lighting rate vs general service
Alice, Schedule AL is typically just for street lighting and outdoor area lighting - parking lots, building exteriors, that kind of thing. Interior office lighting wouldn't qualify. You'd want to stick with general service rates for that type of load. Have you looked at whether they should be on small vs large general service? At $3,200/month they might be borderline.
Thanks Eugene, that makes sense. I'll focus on the general service rate optimization instead. Appreciate you saving me from going down the wrong path!
