Small retail client on residential rate - how often?

Found another small boutique on a residential rate in downtown Portland. Owner said PSE&G put them on it when they opened 3 years ago and never mentioned commercial rates. Bill averages $2,800/month. Anyone else seeing this frequently with retail clients?
Happens all the time Linda. Especially with businesses that started in residential buildings or former apartments. I've seen hair salons, small restaurants, even a daycare still on residential after 5+ years. Always check the rate code first thing.
ComEd does this constantly in Chicago. Small businesses get residential meters and nobody catches it. Found a coffee shop last month - been on residential for 8 years! Recovered $24K going back 3 years on the rate correction alone.
That's encouraging Elmer! This boutique should be on Schedule GS-1 instead of residential. Demand charges will hurt but the energy rate is much lower. Should be a nice refund for them.
