Georgia Power demanding original POA - copies not accepted

This is frustrating - Georgia Power is refusing to discuss a $23K overbilling claim because they want an original power of attorney. I sent them a notarized copy but they're insisting on the physical original document. Is this normal? Client is in California and sending originals seems risky.
Georgia Power is notorious for this bureaucratic nonsense. I always scan and email a copy first, then overnight the original with tracking. Once they accept it, they usually email you a copy back for your records. Pain in the butt but that's how they operate.
Had the same issue last year. What I do now is have clients sign two originals - one for the utility and one for my files. Georgia Power lost mine once and I had to get a new one signed. Learned my lesson!
Good advice - I'll have client sign two originals going forward. Overnighted it yesterday with signature required. Hopefully this doesn't delay the dispute much longer.
Some utilities are sticklers about originals, others accept notarized copies. Always good to ask upfront what their requirements are. Georgia Power is definitely one of the more bureaucratic ones in my experience.
