Found a rate classification error going back 7 years with DTE Energy in Michigan. Client should have been on Schedule D-6 instead of D-3, saving about $800/month. DTE is claiming they only owe 5 years back but I thought Michigan was 6 years for utility billing disputes. Anyone know for certain?

DTE statute of limitations question - 5 or 6 years?
Michigan is definitely 6 years under MCL 600.5813. DTE tries to claim 5 years but the statute is clear. I've won this argument with them twice. Send them a copy of the statute and threaten a MPSC complaint if they don't comply.
Perfect, thanks Ed! That's an extra $9,600 for my client. Filing the MPSC complaint now since they already refused once in writing.
