Filed a formal complaint with ComEd back in June 2013 for a demand charge error on our Schedule GS-2. They acknowledged the mistake and said we'd get a refund, but it's been 14 months and nothing. Anyone else deal with ComEd dragging their feet like this?
ComEd claim taking forever - 14 months now
Michelle, ComEd is notorious for slow refunds. I had one take 18 months back in 2011. Eventually had to file with the Illinois Commerce Commission to get them moving. That got results in about 6 weeks.
Linda's right - ICC complaint is the way to go. ComEd hates dealing with the commission and will usually settle quickly once you file. Make sure you have all your documentation ready.
Definitely escalate to the ICC at this point. After 6 months with no resolution, the commission considers that unreasonable delay. Include your original complaint documentation and proof they acknowledged the error. Most utilities settle within 30-60 days once the PUC gets involved.
Thanks everyone. Filing with ICC today. This is ridiculous - we're talking about $12,000 they owe my client. Will update when I hear back.
