Recovered $8,400 for a small office building in Manhattan. ConEd offering either refund check or bill credits over 12 months. Client asking what I recommend - any tax implications to consider?

ConEd refund vs credit - client preference?
Generally recommend the check. Credits tie you to the utility and if the client moves or changes service, you might lose unused credits. Cash is king.
Lee's right about flexibility with cash. Only time I recommend credits is if it's a large amount and the client wants to spread the tax impact. $8,400 isn't big enough to worry about that.
Makes sense. Going with the refund check. Thanks for the input!
