When to hire an attorney for large disputes?

Have a $75K dispute with AEP that's been dragging on for 18 months. Utility is now claiming they don't owe anything despite clear documentation. At what point do you recommend bringing in legal counsel?
For $75K, I'd get a lawyer involved now Tony. AEP is playing hardball and you need someone who can threaten real consequences. Don't let this drag on another year.
Warren's right. Once they start denying obvious facts, it's time for legal. Make sure you find someone with utility experience though.
General rule: if the recovery is over $50K and the utility is stonewalling, get legal help. The attorney fees are worth it to avoid losing the entire claim to delay tactics.
Thanks everyone. Meeting with a utility attorney next week. This has gone on long enough.
