Working on some new chart templates for client reports. What visual formats work best for showing before/after billing impacts? Bar charts, line graphs, or something else?
Visual Charts That Work - Before/After Billing Comparisons
Side-by-side bar charts work great for monthly comparisons. I use different colors for "current billing" vs "corrected billing" - makes the savings pop visually.
For demand charge errors, I like stacked bar charts showing energy vs demand portions. Really highlights when demand billing is out of whack compared to usage patterns.
Pie charts for showing percentage breakdown of total savings by category. Like "45% tariff errors, 30% demand issues, 25% meter problems." Executives love pie charts for some reason.
Good ideas everyone. Wade, you're right about executives and pie charts. What about color schemes? I've been using red for current costs, green for savings. Too cliche?
Red/green works but consider colorblind folks. I use blue for current, orange for corrected. Still shows contrast without the traffic light thing.
Steve B, have you tried waterfall charts for cumulative savings? Shows how individual issues add up to total impact. Bit more complex but really impressive in presentations.
