Getting tired of the same old PowerPoint presentations. Anyone using different software for client reports? Looking for something that handles data visualization better and maybe looks more modern. What works for you?
Presentation Software - PowerPoint vs Alternatives
Barbara, I've been using Prezi for some presentations. The zooming interface works really well for showing overview then drilling into details. Clients seem to pay more attention than with standard slides. Takes some getting used to though.
For simple reports, I've had good results with Canva presentations. The templates look professional and it's easier to create infographic-style summaries. Not great for technical details but perfect for executive overviews.
Google Slides has been my go-to lately. The collaboration features are great when working with client teams, and the integration with Sheets makes updating data visualizations painless. Plus clients can access it anywhere without software issues.
I stick with PowerPoint but use it better - learned some advanced animation and data linking techniques. The key isn't the software, it's the storytelling. A well-structured PowerPoint beats a flashy Prezi with no clear narrative every time.
I experimented with Tableau for data-heavy presentations but the learning curve was steep. Ended up going back to PowerPoint with better templates. Sometimes the familiar format helps clients focus on content rather than being distracted by fancy visuals.
