Do you adjust your audit approach seasonally? Summer cooling loads vs winter heating can really change usage patterns and rate applications.
Seasonal workflow adjustments?
Don - absolutely. Summer audits focus more on demand charges and coincident peaks. Winter audits look closer at heating equipment efficiency and gas vs electric cost comparisons.
I schedule audits to coincide with seasonal peaks when possible. Gives better data for recommending rate schedule changes or load management strategies.
Seasonal rate schedules are tricky too. Some utilities switch rates in May and October, others use different dates. Easy to miss transition errors.
Good point Claudia. Also watch for utilities that adjust TOU windows seasonally. The same usage can cost very differently in summer vs winter TOU periods.
All good points. I keep a calendar of when each utility in my territory makes seasonal adjustments. Helps catch billing errors during transition periods.
