Working on an audit for a retail chain with significant seasonal variations. Their summer cooling loads are 3x higher than winter usage, which affects everything from demand charges to power factor.
How do you approach seasonal analysis in your audits? Do you analyze each season separately or look at annual patterns? Seems like there could be opportunities for different rate schedules during different periods.

Diana, I typically do both - seasonal breakdown AND annual analysis. The seasonal view helps identify rate optimization opportunities, while annual gives you the complete financial picture.
For retail clients, I often find they're better off on time-of-use rates during summer months but standard rates in winter. Some utilities allow seasonal rate switching if you file the paperwork correctly.

Larry, that's exactly what I'm hoping to find. Did you work directly with the utility on the interruptible rate enrollment, or did the client handle that part?
Iris, $18K is a great result! How did you present the demand response capability to the utility? Did they require any specific equipment or just operational commitments?

Diana, I've found that utilities are much more receptive to seasonal rate discussions when you come with solid data and a clear operational plan. Document the seasonal drivers (HVAC, process changes, etc.) and show how they could benefit from load management programs.
Most utilities have customer energy managers who can walk through available options. Worth scheduling a meeting once you've done the initial analysis.

Seasonal analysis saved one of my clients $18,000/year. They were on a standard rate year-round but their summer peak usage qualified them for an interruptible rate program.
Key was showing the utility that their winter usage was stable and predictable, while summer spikes were controllable. Client agreed to demand response participation and got a much better rate structure.
