Currently managing audit projects with a combination of Excel, email, and paper files. It's getting unwieldy with 15+ active audits. What software solutions are others using for tracking audit progress, document management, and client communication? Looking for something more sophisticated than spreadsheets but not enterprise-level expensive.
Software tools for audit workflow management
Eddie - I use Airtable for project tracking and Google Workspace for document management. Airtable lets me create custom views for different audit phases and automatically calculates time spent per project. Google Drive keeps all documents organized and accessible from anywhere. Total cost under $50/month.
For calculation work I swear by Power BI for data analysis once you get past the learning curve. Great for visualizing usage patterns and automatically flagging anomalies. Still use Excel for final reports since clients expect that format, but Power BI does the heavy lifting on analysis.
Still old school with FileMaker Pro for client database and project tracking. Built custom layouts over the years that match my exact workflow. Not cloud-based like the newer options but rock solid reliable. Sometimes the older tools just work better for specialized applications like ours.
Been using Monday.com for project management - has good audit trail features and client portal access. Clients can see project status in real-time which reduces those "how's it going" calls. Templates for different audit types help standardize the workflow across team members.
