Quality control checkpoints

What quality control checkpoints do you build into your audit process? We had a close call recently where an error almost made it to the client report and I want to implement better safeguards.
Manny - I do three main checkpoints: 1) Initial data validation (do the numbers make sense?), 2) Mid-analysis review (are calculations correct?), 3) Final report review (does everything tie together?). Never skip the final one even on small jobs.
Good framework Floyd. I also have someone else review any calculations over $1000 in potential savings. Fresh eyes catch things you miss when you've been staring at the same numbers for hours.
One checkpoint I added recently: client data verification call before finalizing analysis. Quick 15-minute call to confirm usage patterns, operational schedules, any recent changes. Caught several assumptions that would have led to wrong conclusions.
All good suggestions. I keep a checklist for each audit type that I literally check off item by item before delivering anything to clients. Sounds basic but it works - haven't had a major error slip through since implementing it.
Smart approach Zach. For tariff research, I always verify rates from at least two sources - utility website AND calling to confirm. Seen too many outdated PDFs online that cost people money.
