Discovered a client's B-phase CT has been disconnected for who knows how long. Rochester Gas & Electric meter is only reading 2/3 of actual consumption on Schedule GS-3. Load is pretty balanced across all three phases so we're probably getting billed for about 67% of actual usage. Anyone know if RG&E AMI systems flag this kind of problem automatically? - Tom B.

Three Phase Meter with Dead B-Phase - How Long Can This Go Undetected?
Tom, most AMI systems don't automatically flag phase imbalances unless they're really extreme. Tallahasee utilities missed a similar issue for two years until I caught it during an energy audit. Your client is looking at a potentially massive true-up once RG&E figures it out. - Rosemary H.
This is why I always check phase balance on three-phase meters during site visits. Duke Energy in South Carolina had a client with a dead C-phase for 18 months - $94K true-up bill nearly put them out of business. - Wanda K.
