Digital AMI vs Mechanical Meter Multipliers

Question about meter changeouts from mechanical to digital AMI. Client had mechanical meter with 320 multiplier, Chugach Electric installed new Landis+Gyr AMI meter but bills dropped 80%. Suspect they didn't program multiplier correctly. How do these digital meters handle CT multipliers differently? Lisa P.
Lisa - The AMI meters calculate everything internally versus the old mechanical meters that just recorded raw CT secondary readings. If they programmed it like the old meter it would definitely read low. You need to verify what CT ratio and multiplier are programmed in the AMI meter setup. Walt D.
That makes sense. The mechanical meter was reading CT secondary and we multiplied by 320 for billing. If the AMI is programmed wrong it could be multiplying by 1 instead of the correct CT ratio. Any way to check the programming remotely? Lisa P.
Most utilities can pull the meter configuration remotely through the AMI system. PSO here in Tulsa can tell us the programmed CT ratio and multiplier over the phone usually. Worth asking Chugach what they show. Ed T.
