Elisa F. here from Greensboro. Working on a Duke Energy account that has me confused. The energy consumption multiplier appears correct based on CT ratios, but the demand billing seems off. Is it possible for demand and energy to have different multipliers in the same meter? Customer is on Schedule SGS and their demand charges are way higher than expected based on their actual load profile. Anyone seen this before?

Demand multiplier different from energy multiplier?
Leon J. from Mobile here. Yes, this can definitely happen especially with older AMI programming. I've seen cases where the utility correctly programs energy multiplier but forgets to update demand multiplier, or vice versa. What does the meter display show for both kWh and kW readings? Sometimes you can spot the discrepancy by comparing displayed values to what shows up on the bill.
Leon, the meter face shows demand readings that match our measurements, but the billed demand is about 2.5 times higher. Energy consumption looks right though. So you're thinking they might have different multiplier factors programmed for kW versus kWh? That seems like a really easy mistake to make during setup. Elisa F.
