Ernest M. in Spokane Valley WA. Managing multi-tenant office building with sub-meters for tenant billing. Main Avista meter has 400:1 CT multiplier but our sub-meters are direct read. Having trouble reconciling the multiplied main meter readings against sum of tenant meters. Should the sub-meter totals equal the main meter reading before or after applying the CT multiplier? This is confusing me.

Sub-Metering Multiplier Question Multi-Tenant
Walt P. from Knoxville TN. Ernest, the sub-meter totals should equal the main meter reading AFTER applying the multiplier. The utility meter reading times the CT ratio gives you actual kWh consumed. Your sub-meters measure actual consumption directly so they should match the calculated total from the main meter.
Ernest M. thanks Walt, that makes sense now. I was comparing raw meter readings instead of actual consumption. Appreciate the clarification.
