Religious Institution Rate Qualification - PSE&G Requirements?

Working with a large church in Newark that's currently on PSE&G's standard General Service rate but I think they might qualify for religious institution pricing under Schedule RLM. Building has sanctuary, classrooms, and small commercial kitchen. Anyone familiar with PSE&G's qualification requirements for religious rates? - Iris C.
Iris, PSE&G's religious rates typically require non-profit status documentation and proof that majority of facility use is for religious/educational purposes rather than commercial activities. The kitchen might complicate things if it's used for revenue-generating events. What's their monthly usage and demand running? - Neil D.
Neil, they're using about 15,000 kWh/month with peak demand around 45kW. Kitchen is mainly for community meals and church events, not commercial catering. They have 501(c)(3) status and building is probably 85% religious/educational use. Sounds promising? - Iris C.
That usage profile and non-profit status should qualify for PSE&G religious rates. You'll need IRS determination letter, building use breakdown documentation, and sometimes facility inspection. Schedule RLM can offer significant savings over standard commercial rates. Worth pursuing. - Jim W.
Jim thanks for the encouragement. Started gathering documentation including 501(c)(3) letter and detailed facility usage breakdown. PSE&G said they'll need site visit to verify religious use claim. Hoping for positive outcome - could save client $300-400/month. - Iris C.
Iris, PSE&G site visits for religious rate verification are usually pretty straightforward. They mainly want to see that it's legitimate religious facility and not primarily commercial operation. Your church should qualify easily with those usage percentages. - Fiona M.
Update: PSE&G completed site visit and approved religious rate classification! Switch takes effect next billing cycle with potential for 2 months retroactive adjustment. Thanks for the guidance everyone. Another win for proper rate classification! - Iris C.
