New Construction Misclassified from Day One

Lori T. from Sioux Falls. Xcel Energy territory here. New warehouse construction completed last month and Xcel automatically put them on Schedule C&I-L (Commercial & Industrial Large) but the facility qualifies for industrial Rate I-L based on manufacturing processes inside. Customer operates food processing equipment with significant motor loads averaging 280 kW demand. Anyone know Xcel's process for correcting new construction rate assignments?
Hank B. in Minneapolis, also Xcel territory. They usually assign new construction based on building permits and initial service application. If application listed warehouse instead of manufacturing, that could explain commercial classification. You'll need to provide documentation of actual industrial processes and equipment to get reclassification.
Thanks Hank. Makes sense about the permit classification. What kind of equipment documentation does Xcel typically require for industrial rate qualification? Customer has conveyor systems, refrigeration compressors, and packaging machinery.
Lori, you'll want equipment list with nameplate ratings, process flow description showing manufacturing operation, and maybe some photos of production equipment. Xcel industrial rates usually require actual manufacturing not just warehousing with some equipment. The food processing should qualify easily.
