LinkedIn outreach templates that actually work

I've been experimenting with LinkedIn outreach to facilities managers and business owners but my connection request acceptance rate is terrible. Currently using the default "I'd like to connect with you" message. Anyone have templates or approaches that get better response rates? I know we need to personalize but looking for a framework that works consistently.
Alice M. - The default message is basically spam at this point. I always mention something specific about their company or recent post. Something like "Hi John, noticed your post about rising operational costs at XYZ Manufacturing. I help similar facilities reduce utility expenses and would love to connect." Much higher acceptance rate.
Ida's right about personalization. I take it a step further and research their utility provider first. "Hi Sarah, I help businesses on PNM's industrial rates optimize their energy costs and noticed ABC Company might benefit from tariff analysis." Shows I did homework and understand their specific situation.
Great approaches from both Ida and Marcus. The key is demonstrating immediate relevance to their business challenges. I'd add that timing matters - connect on Tuesday through Thursday, avoid Mondays and Fridays. Also consider connecting with multiple people at the same company - facilities manager, CFO, operations director. Different perspectives on the same cost-saving opportunity.
Here's what's working for me in Chicago: "Hi [Name], I specialize in helping [Industry] companies reduce utility costs without capital investments. Recently saved a similar business $85K annually through rate optimization. Would value connecting to share insights." The specific dollar amount and "no capital investment" hook gets attention.
Yuri P. that's a strong template. The "no capital investment" angle is smart because most people assume energy savings require equipment purchases. How do you handle the follow-up message after they connect?
Jim - I wait 2-3 days then send a soft follow-up. "Thanks for connecting! If you're interested, I can share a quick case study of how we helped [Similar Business] reduce their ComEd bills by 23% through tariff analysis. No pressure, just thought it might be relevant." Then I attach a one-page PDF case study.
This is all great advice but I'm curious about volume. How many connection requests do you send per week? I've heard LinkedIn has limits and I don't want to get flagged as spam.
Harold F. - I stick to about 25-30 connection requests per week, always personalized. Never had issues with LinkedIn limits. The key is quality over quantity. Better to send 20 highly targeted messages than 100 generic ones.
This has been incredibly helpful everyone. I'm going to redesign my whole approach based on these suggestions. The personalization and industry-specific research makes so much sense. Thanks for sharing what's actually working!
One thing I'd add is don't forget about engaging with their content before connecting. Like and comment on a few posts first, then send the connection request. Shows genuine interest and dramatically improves acceptance rates.
Jennifer R. excellent point! I've been doing this for months and it really works. Comment something thoughtful on their post about operational challenges, then connect a few days later referencing the discussion. Feels natural instead of cold outreach.
