ConEd NYC Rate Schedule 9 - Hidden Riders and Adjustments?

Larry L. here in Yonkers. I'm analyzing a ConEd bill for a client in Manhattan on Rate Schedule 9 (large general service). The base rates are straightforward but there are about eight different riders and adjustments that add up to almost 30% of the total bill. Anyone have experience breaking down all these ConEd add-ons? Some of them don't match what's in the main tariff book.
Donna C. from PA here. Don't have ConEd experience but similar situation with PECO. Try looking for "Statement of Automatic Adjustments" or similar filing - utilities often put the monthly rider updates in separate documents from the main tariff. NY PSC website might have them under a different section.
Randy here from Memphis. ConEd is notorious for complex adjustments. The big ones to watch are the Monthly Adjustment Clause (MAC), the Revenue Adjustment Mechanism (RAM), and various clean energy surcharges. Each updates on different schedules - some monthly, some quarterly. The MAC alone can swing bills 5-10% month to month. You'll want to track these separately from base rate analysis.
Randy, exactly! I found the MAC filings but they're buried in PSC Case 19-E-0065 supplements. The clean energy charges are another mess - there's the Renewable Energy Standard charge, Clean Energy Standard charge, and something called Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard charge. All separate line items with different calculation methods.
Bob W. from Akron here. We deal with similar complexity with FirstEnergy. Larry, have you tried calling ConEd's Key Account services? For large customers they sometimes provide spreadsheet breakdowns of all the adjustments. Worth a shot if the bill is big enough to justify their time.
Karl J. from Santa Ana jumping in. Different coast but SCE has similar rider complexity. I built an Excel model that pulls the monthly adjustment factors and automatically updates customer bills. Takes some setup but saves hours once you have multiple ConEd accounts to track. Happy to share the structure if helpful.
Karl, that would be amazing! I have about twelve ConEd commercial accounts and manually updating these riders each month is killing me. Bob, tried calling Key Accounts but they said I need written authorization from each customer to discuss billing details. Working on getting those letters signed.
Quick update - got the authorization letters and ConEd provided a detailed breakdown. The biggest surprise was a "Property Tax Adjustment" that's not clearly explained anywhere in their published tariffs. Apparently it adjusts quarterly based on NYC property tax assessments. Added about $1,200 to the annual bill we weren't accounting for.
