Just got word that NV Energy's rate case was approved by the PUCN. 12.8% across the board starting May 1st. Anyone have the breakdown by rate class? I've got several casino clients on Schedule LGS-TOU that are going to be screaming.
Franklin - I'm in Phoenix but follow Nevada cases. The biggest hit is on the time-of-use rates. Summer peak hours (2-8 PM) went from $0.18/kWh to about $0.21/kWh. Your casino clients are definitely going to feel that since they can't shift much load.
Michelle's numbers look right. I audited a Reno hotel last month anticipating this increase. Their August 2024 bill would have been $47,000 higher under the new rates. The demand charges also jumped from $12.50/kW to $14.25/kW during summer months.
Thanks Sarah. That's brutal but expected. The casinos I work with are already looking at demand response programs and LED retrofits. At these new rates, the payback on energy efficiency just got a lot better.
