Retroactive date confusion

Switching E&O carriers and new policy has a retroactive date. Does this mean I'm not covered for work I did before that date? Oncor audit from last year is turning problematic.
Retroactive date is important. Any claims arising from work before that date won't be covered. You might need tail coverage from your old carrier to bridge the gap.
