I use Hiscox for my E&O. $1M coverage runs about $1,200/year. They understand consulting work and claims process is straightforward.
Been with CNA for 8 years. Started at $2M coverage when I was doing bigger industrial clients. Now carry $1M which is plenty for most commercial audits.
Hartford has good rates for utility consulting. Make sure your policy covers errors in calculations and missed deadlines. That's where most claims come from.
PSE&G client sued me over a disputed $15K refund calculation in 2009. Thank god for E&O coverage. Hiscox handled everything and settled for $8K. Policy paid the settlement plus legal fees. Worth every penny.
