Thinking about joining BNI or similar networking group to find more audit clients. Anyone have experience with these? Worth the time and membership fees? Nampa/Boise area if anyone has specific recommendations.
Local business networking groups worth joining?
BNI in Mobile has been good for me. Weekly meetings are time consuming but generated 4 solid clients in 18 months. Key is explaining what we do clearly - most members don't understand utility auditing at first.
Rotary Club in Topeka was better than BNI for me. Less high-pressure selling atmosphere. Several members own manufacturing businesses that became clients. Plus community service projects are rewarding.
Chamber of Commerce in Riverside has been my best source. Monthly mixers, annual business expo, and they publish a member directory. Joined 3 years ago and it's paid for itself many times over.
