Mobile restaurant has been with Alabama Power for 8 years, perfect payment history. Just found out they're still holding a $1,500 security deposit that should have been refunded after 12 months of good credit. Easy money I almost missed.

Alabama Power deposit refund - never thought to check
Mississippi Power does the same thing. They don't automatically refund deposits even when customers qualify. You have to request it with Form DP-2.
Florida utilities are terrible about this. I've recovered over $50K in forgotten deposits for clients. It's usually 2x the average monthly bill plus interest.
Alabama Power Schedule D has specific language about deposit refunds after 12 consecutive on-time payments. Always check account history for new commercial customers.
